Athenahealth has unseated Epic to become the top overall rated electronic health record vendor, according to the 2013 Best in KLAS report. The Watertown, Mass.-based vendor also ranked No. 1 for overall physician practice vendors. Verona, Wis.-based Epic, which slid into the No. 2 spot overall, managed to maintain its ranking as the top overall software suite.
No. 3 overall was Wolters Kluwer. KLAS added two new software segments eligible to receive Best in KLAS awards this year. Epic Care Everywhere topped the first Best in KLAS list for health information exchange, while athenahealth's AthenaCommunicator was listed as the top patient portal. Announcement
