Chutes & Ladders—Mount Sinai taps new digital and IT leader; CommonSpirit hires chief physician executive officer

Mount Sinai Health System

Mount Sinai Health System has appointed Lisa S. Stump as chief digital information officer of the Mount Sinai Health System and dean for Information Technology of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She will serve as a key bridge between the clinical, educational, and research missions of the Health System as she leads the effort to further strengthen Mount Sinai’s digital strategy.

In her new role, Stump will lead in planning and directing the implementation of a comprehensive enterprise digital ecosystem, drive innovation in collaboration with Health System leaders and faculty, and ensure integration of new technologies that create value and drive growth. Her major areas of responsibility will be core IT and digital functions, cybersecurity and risk, data privacy and governance, application portfolio management, data democratization, the digital experience, data and analytics, and artificial intelligence and machine learning. Stump will also help define the five-year strategic direction for the health system, executing the IT and digital aspects of that plan.  

“Lisa’s deep expertise in informatics in the clinical and academic environments, in partnership with our amazing clinical, research and education leaders, will propel Mount Sinai to the cutting edge in digital innovation," said Brendan Carr, M.D., CEO of the Mount Sinai Health System in a statement. 

Stump brings a background in informatics with a clinical perspective to the health system. She most recently served as senior vice president, and chief information and digital transformation officer for Yale New Haven Health and Yale Medicine.


Guidehealth

Guidehealth, an AI-enabled healthcare services provider, announced the appointment of two industry leaders to its executive team, naming Roger Ou as its new chief financial officer and Robert Alterman as chief performance officer.

Ou will bring extensive experience in managing value-based care models – particularly in two-sided risk across government and commercial lines of business. Additionally, Ou has a proven track record in overseeing key finance and investor relations functions in his current role as SVP of finance and investor relations at CareMax. As Guidehealth’s CFO, Ou will lead all finance and accounting operations while also providing strategic financial leadership to Guidehealth’s health system and CIN customers.

Alterman joins Guidehealth from McKinsey & Company, where he was an associate partner in the healthcare practice and helped lead McKinsey’s VBC, healthcare private equity and women’s health services. His work has included VBC performance acceleration in full-risk Medicare, developing VBC enablement and partnerships strategies, advanced medical-cost analytics and redesigning risk-bearing primary care and patient workflows to transform overall performance.

 

At Guidehealth, Alterman will also oversee payer relations in addition to building the company’s performance functions and supporting metrics that enhance client delivery.

CommonSpirit Health

CommonSpirit Health, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health care systems, tapped Thomas McGinn, M.D., as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive Officer (CPEO).

As the first CPEO for CommonSpirit Health, McGinn will serve as a dyad partner to Kathy Sanford, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, and work closely with Terika Richardson, Chief Operating Officer, on all aspects of clinical care across the care continuum.

McGinn, in partnership with nursing and operations, will have executive oversight over the full array of clinical activities across CommonSpirit, including both inpatient and outpatient settings. He will provide strategic oversight of the clinical enterprise supporting high-quality care, reducing clinical variation to enhance safety, and promoting equitable access to care.

 

 


> Eko Health, makers of digital stethoscopes and AI for detecting signs of heart disease, announced that former Vocera CEO Brent Lang is joining the board of directors. Lang previously led Vocera to a successful IPO and $3 billion acquisition by Stryker, marking relevant experience to help guide Eko as it moves forward following its recent $41 million series D raise.

> CareDx, focused on the discovery, development and commercialization of clinically differentiated, high-value healthcare solutions for transplant patients and caregivers, appointed Jessica Meng as chief commercial officer and Keith Kennedy as chief operating officer.

> Color Health announced Rebecca Miksad, M.D., as chief medical officer and Josh Sturm as chief revenue officer

> Medical device company HeartBeam has appointed Tim Cruickshank as CFO.

> LeapFrog announced the election of Linda Schwimmer as new board chair. In addition to Schwimmer, the officers elected areVice Admiral Raquel Bono, RCB Consulting LLC; John Zern, Ryan Specialty Benefits; and Sally Welborn, Welborn Advisory Services.

> Corti, an AI engine for healthcare developing its own LLMs, announced the appointment of three new hires: Chad Compton, Frederik Brabant and Yvonne Kirsch.

> Verily tapped Michael Radwin as head of AI and data science. In his new role, he will partner with science, clinical and product teams across Verily to lead the company's data science, machine learning and AI efforts.

> WeightWatchers hired Scott Honken as chief commercial officer.

> Unlearn appointed Steve Herne, former chief commercial officer, to CEO. As part of the transition, former CEO Charles Fisher is stepping into the position of chief scientist, where he will drive Unlearn’s product and technical advances.

> MDClone tapped healthcare technology leader Bruno Lempernesse as president.

> The Cancer Research Institute—a nonprofit organization focused on advancing breakthroughs in cancer immunology and immunotherapy—announced the appointment of Alicia Zhou, Ph.D., as its CEO. She succeeds Jill O’Donnell-Tormey, Ph.D., who served as CEO and director of scientific affairs since 1993. 

> Cognoa, a leading child development and behavioral health company, announced the appointment of Mike Butler as executive chair of its board of directors.
