Medicare has awarded SafeGuard Services LLC a $300 million contract to oversee fraud, waste and abuse detection efforts within 12 states in the northeast part of the country.
As a Zone Program Integrity Contractor, SafeGuard, which is owned by Hewlett-Packard, will identify and investigate potential kickbacks, false claims and Medicare billing fraud within Zone 6, which includes New Jersey, the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania and New York.
