Viz.ai expands neurodegenerative disease care in new partnership with Cortechs.ai

Artificial intelligence disease detection and care coordination platform Viz.ai announced Thursday it is partnering with neuroimaging and quantitative analysis solutions platform Cortechs.ai to expand its reach in neurodegenerative disease.

The collaboration will expand the company’s Viz Neuro Suite with an initial focus on multiple sclerosis (MS). Quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis from Cortechs.ai’s NeuroQuant MS will be integrated directly into care coordination workflows.

Viz.ai Chief Medical Officer Tim Showalter, M.D., told Fierce Healthcare in an emailed statement MS is the “starting point” for Viz Neuro Suite.

“But we see this as the beginning of a broader effort in neurodegenerative disease,” Showalter said. “We're building a foundation that will enable us to expand into additional conditions in which earlier detection, better care coordination, and faster treatment can improve patient outcomes.”

AI is helping clinicians surface “meaningful insights” into neurological diseases faster—ultimately getting information to specialists quicker, according to Showalter.

“Neurological diseases have long been among the most challenging conditions to diagnose because symptoms often emerge gradually, vary widely from patient to patient, and can overlap with other disorders,” he said. “Even when imaging is available, subtle changes can be difficult to detect and interpret consistently. When you combine quantitative MRI analysis with care coordination, you can reduce delays, support more informed treatment decisions, and help patients start the right care earlier.”

Moreover, Showalter said the expansion represents a “significant evolution” of the platform, adding that it is consistent with the company's broader trajectory.

“Viz.ai was built on neurovascular care, starting with stroke, but we've since expanded into cardiology, oncology, and other specialties,” he said. “This partnership extends that same playbook: apply our expertise in AI-powered care coordination to a new area of complex disease, and increase our clinical impact for more patients.”

Additional partnerships and products focused on neurodegenerative diseases are expected “in the near future,” according to the company.

The partnership is the latest announcement from the AI-driven disease detection and care coordination platform in recent months.

In May, Viz.ai launched its Viz Pulmonary Suite to help healthcare organizations in streamlining care. It aids in the care of major pulmonary conditions, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung nodules and pulmonary embolisms.

And, in April, it announced a partnership with the National Rural Health Association to expand AI understanding and access across rural healthcare settings.

In late March, the company also rolled out Viz Agent Studio, which it says is the first agentic platform for health systems to build and deploy their own customizable care pathways.

Since the company’s 2016 launch, its platform has been deployed at 2,000 hospitals across the U.S., a scale that CEO and co-founder Chris Mansi, M.D., told Fierce Healthcare covers “two-thirds” of the country’s population.
