Fullspan Health’s conversational artificial intelligence agent is gaining traction among users.
As of Aug. 18, Healthline AI has garnered over 1.1 million views and reaches 13,500 individuals daily, Fullspan Health Head of Marketing Debra Harris told Fierce Healthcare.
“We're seeing that the user average is 1.6 queries per session, which equates to three conversation turns across the full exchange,” Harris said. “The depth of people wanting to use it and wanting to interact with our content in this way has increased 28% since launch.”
Harris said “three-quarters” of individuals who open the tool submit a query, with 7% of sessions resulting in next-step actions.
“Of those actions, 94% are having a care path or provider, finding a provider, seeking a specialty and engaging with care,” Harris said.
Fullspan Health launched the AI agent in June. Healthline AI allows patients to explore medically reviewed health information—drawing exclusively from Fullspan’s medically reviewed properties, including Healthline, Healthgrades, Medical News Today and Psych Central.
That’s just one of the things that separates Healthline AI from other tools on the market, according to Harris.
“We've got the number one provider resource within our portfolio,” Harris said. “So being able to connect people with the right specialists to help meet their needs, I think, is a differentiator, and then with all of the additional tools and functionality that we have at our disposal.”
In-product feedback is 78% positive, executives say, and Healthline AI has also handled more than 2,800 diagnostic and sensitive interactions with zero reported clinical or compliance incidents to date.
“What's most important of all is the AI that we created is not meant to be just an overlay of information and medically-vetted information, which of course it is,” Harris said. “But the idea was that we would be able to provide an answer. We would be able to allow people to take the next step to keep moving through their journey, not only explore their options but really take an action to get the care they need.”
The launch accompanied increasing use of AI chatbots being used for health information. A March Rock Health survey found 32% of respondents using chatbots to find answers to health questions, up from 16% in 2024.
Moreover, consumer research from Healthline found 90% of respondents were interested in a conversational health experience—and nearly 70% reported they would find it more trustworthy than ChatGPT, according to the June announcement.
Healthline AI currently has content on Type 2 diabetes and plans into expand to other conditions in the future as it scales to its 63 million monthly unique user audience.
