Healthcare platform Fullspan Health rolled out a conversational artificial intelligence agent that can answer consumers' health-related inquiries and connect them to providers.
The tool—dubbed Healthline AI—allows patients to explore medically reviewed health information and connects them with relevant resources for health questions. It draws exclusively from Fullspan’s medically reviewed properties, including Healthline, Healthgrades, Medical News Today and Psych Central.
Fullspan Health Vice President of Relationship Marketing, Berkeley Bethune, said in an emailed statement to Fierce Healthcare, their audience doesn’t want to just read about their health, they want to manage it.
“What makes Healthline AI fundamentally different is that it is grounded in our medically vetted content and designed around outcomes, not answers alone,” Bethune said. “Most AI experiences stop at information. We built Healthline AI to help people move from confusion to confidence — whether that means understanding a condition, finding care, exploring lifestyle changes, or knowing what step to take next.”
Healthline AI currently has content on Type 2 diabetes and will expand to other conditions. Fullspan says the agent is set to scale across the entire audience of 63 million monthly unique users.
The launch comes as consumers are increasingly turning to publicly available AI chatbots for health information. More than 800 million regular users of ChatGPT—1 in 4—submit a prompt about healthcare every week, according to OpenAI. More than 40 million turn to ChatGPT every day with healthcare questions, according to an OpenAI report.
A March Rock Health survey found 32% of respondents using chatbots to find answers to health questions, up from 16% in 2024.
Moreover, consumer research from Healthline found 90% of respondents were interested in a conversational health experience—and nearly 70% said they would find it more trustworthy than ChatGPT, according to the announcement.
Christine Maguire, Fullspan Health EVP and Chief Business Officer, told Fierce Healthcare in an emailed statement that the organization is "proud to be at the forefront of blending trusted health information with health technology," marking a new era of health marketing and media.
"For pharma and health marketers, the challenge in the AI era is balancing innovation with safety, trust, and compliance," Maguire said. "Healthline AI was built specifically to solve that tension. It delivers a conversational experience grounded in medically reviewed content, privacy-first architecture, and healthcare-specific guardrails that simply don’t exist in general-purpose AI environments."
