HHS Secretary Sebelius, HHS Director of the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight and American Cancer Soc

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- HHS Secretary Sebelius, Jay Angoff, director of the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight, and Keysha Brooks Coley, the director of Federal Relations with the American Cancer Society, will host a web chat Friday, April 30 to discuss important insurance reforms in the new legislation and recent developments that have led to the ending of controversial practices like rescissions.

In addition to discussing recent HHS outreach to insurers to have them speed up implementation of key parts of the Affordable Care Act, the Secretary and her guests will also answer questions from the American public.

Recently, we learned that a large insurance company is dropping coverage for women after learning that they’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer. This practice, know as “rescission” is wrong, and with the passage of the Affordable Care Act, it will become illegal starting this year. During this web chat you’ll get a chance to hear how health insurance reform will save families money, and bring an end to discriminatory insurance industry practices.

The web chat is the fifth in a series of discussions that are designed to help Americans understand the impact of the newly passed health insurance reform law.

Members of the public are encouraged to submit questions via email to [email protected] and via twitter using handle, @HHSGOV.
