During the panel session titled "The Hospital as Production Center: Holy Grail or Impossible Dream?" he and the other panelists will explore the complex, flawed, and inefficient processes that can put hospitalized patients at risk. Deady will share how hospitals and health systems can leverage health information exchange (HIE), electronic health records (EHRs), clinical decision support, and other health information technologies to improve quality, safety, outcomes, and the cost effectiveness of care. Deady will draw on his more than two decades of experience at some of the country's top healthcare and healthcare information technology (HIT) companies. Since December 2010 he has been the CEO and president at Awarepoint, the market leader in real-time location systems that hospitals use to track and optimize the workflow and utilization of people and equipment.

The Summit, which is sponsored by the International Business Forum, will feature keynote speakers Todd Park, chief technology officer of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Jonathan Bush, CEO of Athenahealth Inc., as well as presentations by other industry luminaries and leading adopters of healthcare information technology.

Commenting on the upcoming panel, Deady stated, "This is an exciting time for the industry, especially for those of us who have been long-term proponents and supporters of clinical and operational automation. The Summit provides an unparalleled opportunity for providers, payers, vendors, and other stakeholders to learn how innovators are using disruptive technologies to provide 21st century care to tackle the most pressing clinical, financial, and operational challenges."

At the one-day Summit, industry experts will share insights into how HIT will radically reshape the American health system across all settings, including the inpatient, ambulatory, pharmacy, and payer environments. Sessions will cover evidence-based software that minimizes medical errors, redundant orders and procedures; remote monitoring technologies that enhance care and management of patients with chronic conditions; systems that support creation of value-based health plans; telemedicine and mobile medical devices; and strategies to monetize data, restructure the healthcare economy and create industry-leading companies. Attendees will include hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers, HIT vendors, venture capitalists, private equity firms, health plans, risk managers, business development executives, and government and public policy experts.
