a tragic story, no doubt. Not making assumptions- however cirrhosis is most commonly caused by alcoholism or Hep C- and the story implies that he recieved medical orders to 'clean up his act.' Never met the man, but you could infer that his lifestyle contributed heavily to his condition, and perhaps also to why nobody fought for his cause? It's also safe to assume that, even if insured, he could have died waiting for a liver like ens of thousands of other americans. The system sux, but each of us is accountable for taking care of ourselves. We'll see much more of this displaced blame in years to come as millions of overweight Americans deteriorate and then blame the healthcare system when it can not support their healthcare costs.
