St. Louis health system may lose doctors over new pay model

Doctors affiliated with Mercy Health in St. Louis are unhappy with the health system's new compensation model and say they may not sign the new contracts, St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. The new pay structure attempts to standardize compensation for all 2,100 employed physicians across the system. But some of the doctors protest the changes, stating that the contract is too restrictive and pay is based on quantity of work performed. The health system began revamping the pay structure five years ago and worked with 100 hospital physicians to develop the framework for the new compensation plan. Article
