here's another myth we citizens of ObamaNation will keep hearing about; the benefits of EMRs.
the big O keeps harping on the "portable medical record" and how it will "streamline" medical care. The reality; this will cost us all a fortune and lower quality of care.
physicians will be slowed down and encumbered by inefficient, overpriced EMR systems which will require armies of tech support to maintain. instead of spending MORE time with you, your doctor will be spending the majority of the allotted encounter time trying to figure out how to document the encounter.
the expense of installing these systems is something docs can ill afford in a time of diminished reimbursement and the time and personnel required to scan years of accumulated medical records into these EMR systems is enough to drive most private practice docs straight into retirement.
