It's very common for doctors to cope with small on-the-job injuries, including potentially dangerous needle sticks. Not knowing whether a patient has a taxing or even fatal infection, physicians are typically required to report the incident immediately and get screened for harmful pathogens like the hepatitis C virus and HIV.
