Even if a cancer patient gets excellent medical treatment, they may still be facing a host of psychological and social problems which could have an impact on their wellbeing. For that reason, it's critical for cancer specialists to become more skilled at identifying such problems--which can include depression, job loss, lack of adequate insurance or even difficulty getting to appointments--and helping them cope.
