SPOTLIGHT: NY nursing program closes due to budget deficit
Across the country, healthcare institutions are worrying over the growing shortage of nurses--which is only expected to get worse as existing staff members retire. Unfortunately, at least one nursing school won't be able to help any more: The State University of New York New Paltz, which is graduating 167 nurses over the next two years, is closing down its nursing program by 2011. The university is being forced to make the closure, as well as 70 job cuts, due to a $6 million budget deficit. Article
