As measles cases mount, officials blame fear of autism

Despite a seeming lack of sound evidence supporting their contention, a growing number of parents have come to believe that childhood vaccinations can cause autism. Officials now believe that a ricochet effect from such fears has appeared. Public health data has come demonstrating that more people had measles infections in the first seven months of this year than during any comparable period since 1996, many of whom were unvaccinated because of either their own beliefs or those of their parents.
