McDonald's braces for Fast Food Nation movie
McDonald's is preparing a pre-emptive public relations strike to counter the possible damage it fears could result from the release of the film version of Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation. According to The Wall Street Journal, the company has assembled "a truth squad" as well as a team of "ambassadors of the brand" that will try to avoid the kind of damage caused by Morgan Spurlock's SuperSize Me two years ago. It may be a tough summer for fast food companies: This month Schlosser also releases "Chew on This," a book targeting the 11- to 15-year-old demographic and presents the Fast Food Nation story in an "accessible" way.
