SPOTLIGHT: FDA says it needs bigger budget

This will come as no shock to FierceHealthcare readers: the FDA's leadership feels it can't do its job adequately without expanding its budget. The agency's asking for $375 million in fiscal 2009--with hopes of getting an additional $2.2 billion over five years to bring its budget to $3.7 billion by FY 2013. Still, this is far more than the current administration would like to give.
