The American Medical Association, for one, has been complaining loudly about the concentration of health plan power in major U.S. markets for some time now, but despite its lobbying power doesn't seem to have gotten far. Now, however, it seems that some members of the House are prepared to take away the industry's exemption from antitrust laws, repealing a 1940s-era law granting this protection. The move is seen by some as a step to punish the industry for its opposition to health reform provisions favored by the Obama Administration. Article
