Some might say a year of debate is long enough, even for Congress. But at the American Medical Association, they're taking their time over a new ethics policy designed to limit pharmaceutical company and devicemaker influence on continuing medical education for doctors. Of course, it doesn't help that the AMA drew substantial CME funding from pharma, which climbed to $1.2
billion between 1998 and 2006, or about 50 percent of its CME budget. Article
