Publix pharmacies to offer free antibiotics

Publix Super Markets will provide seven popular antibiotics for free to customers with prescriptions, regardless of whether they have insurance coverage, at all 684 of the company's pharmacies in five southern states.

The program covers 14-day supplies of amoxicillin, cephalexin, sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim, ciprofloxacin, penicillin VK, ampicillin and erythromycin--among the most commonly prescribed antibiotics. Publix is not limiting the number of free prescriptions patients can receive.
