NYC makes recommendations for NewYork-Presbyterian overcrowding

New York City officials this week released a report on overcrowding problems at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital's emergency department (ED), one of the city's busiest. The report details several overcrowding issues and also offers potential solutions, coauthor Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez told CBS New York. They include increased staffing levels, improved patient privacy, increased urgent care center access and partnering with community health providers. The hospital said in a statement that an expansion of the ED that will double its current size has been under way since 2012, and also cited the hospital's success in expanding ambulatory care and community-based programs that target high-risk patients.
