NHS official says MD input ignored on project
The former top medical advisor to the U.K.'s $36.3 billion National Health Infrastructure IT project says he believes organizers chose to ignore physician input in the planning stages of the initiative. Professor Peter Hutton told the Financial Times he was asked to leave his post shortly after complaining to superiors that doctors' views on IT purchases were not being aired adequately. The project has since fallen behind schedule and has drawn criticism from many doctors in the U.K. who feel the technology being deployed is not living up to its advanced billing.
