Nearly 4M seniors used Medicare drug discounts

Thanks to provisions in the Affordable Care Act, nearly 4 million Medicare beneficiaries received a one-time, tax-free $250 rebate check in 2010, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius announced today. So far this year, about 48,000 Medicare enrollees have saved $38 million--an average of $800 per person--through new 50 percent discounts on covered brand-name prescription drugs in the coverage gap, or "donut hole."
