Nearly one-third (30 percent) of cardiology IT users say they are considering replacing their cardiovascular information system software (CVIS), because their current vendors don't deliver the performance they expect.
"Client satisfaction continues to trend downward industry-wide as vendors fail to deliver on integration, functionality and service expectations," said Ben Brown, general manager of medical imaging and medical equipment research for KLAS and author of the new CVIS report, Cardiology IT: Has the industry missed a beat?
A comprehensive, truly integrated IT platform for the whole cardiovascular department still does not exist, according to the report, which was based on interviews with 371 provider organizations that shared their experiences with about 12 CVIS software vendors. A market leader has yet to emerge, Brown said.
Every vendor in the study, except Digisonics and Philips (NYSE: PHG) earned lower client-satisfaction scores than they did in the 2009 report, making CVIS among the lowest ranked market segments KLAS tracks.
Of the 10 vendors fully rated in the report, Digisonics earned the highest performance score of 83.6 out of 100 with its DigiView product, followed by Philips Xcelera at 75.4 and Merge VERCIS (NASDAQ: MRGE) at 72.3.
