Medicare cuts to cost hospitals $41B in next decade

The projected 2 percent cuts to Medicare could cost hospitals $41 billion over the next 10 years, according to consulting firm Tripp Umbach. In addition, the report (.pdf) indicates budget cuts would result in the loss of 194,000 jobs by 2021.

However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics this week released information that healthcare was one of the few bright spots in a steady unemployment rate across all industries. Hospitals added about 8,000 jobs for a total of 4,760,600 jobs (seasonally adjusted) in August.  Press release
