HHS releases new infection-control action plan
Over the next five years, HHS say that it hopes to reduce hospital-acquired infections by using a new infection-control action plan.
HHS is encouraging greater collaboration between its agencies as it initiates the use of measurement systems to track and reduce six healthcare-acquired infections. The infections being targeted are: central line-associated bloodstream; Clostridium difficile; catheter-associated urinary tract; methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus; surgical-site infections; and ventilator-associated pneumonia.
So far, hospitals have been appreciative of HHS' practices for coordinating infection control, and have actually been asking for more implementation guidelines.
