Health plans upset when employers help pay high deductibles
Comments
The brokers should sue the insurance companies for restraint of trade. I believe that they would win. The employers should tell the insurance companies to start paring down their profits or they will get the state legislature to allow them to band together and establish their own insurance company and leave the big boys without any premiums.
While I see some of the concern by the insurance company that people will not "shop" rates or be more mindful of their number of services, I am amazed at the fact that insurance companies are leaving out the fact that employers are still bearing the brunt of the high deductible and self insured amounts which equals money being paid to service providers and less payout on premiums from insurance companies.
Interesting take here, let me get this straight... high deductibles should be passed on to already taxed employees, employers are encouraged to save money, employers should not help thier employees to offset costs because employees should go to the doctor less and not promote preventative care in order to have a high cost claim? Great Idea! (joking here...)
Ridiculous!
Really, a terrible approach from insurance companies.
