FierceHealthcare announces Hospital Innovators Awards

Folks, today I'm delighted to announce the release of our first-annual Hospital Innovators awards. The awards honor U.S. acute care hospitals that have taken a leadership role on critical industry issues, including strategic development, medical research, facilities planning, supply chain management, IT improvement, staff retention and case management.

Winning hospitals are all over the map structure-wise, ranging from billion-dollar academic medical centers to rural facilities with under 100 beds. What they have in common is a willingness to scrap the conventional wisdom of the business. In some cases, these hospitals have come in ahead of the curve; others have created their own curve.

Unlike other hospital awards, our list isn't drawn from performance or financial data. Instead, it reflects our editorial take on the industry, naming hospitals which seem to be addressing the industry's most difficult problems.

We realize that no matter who we name, there will be other hospitals out there that deserve praise too. We also realize that you may disagree with some of our choices. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and find out what you think.
