Do women pay more for health insurance?
Comments
I have complained about this issue many times. Forget expensive insurance , Women who have BMI over 34 will NOT get any insurance outside of a large employer pool. ( this is the size of most women in the US. Height of around 5 feet 1 inch and weight of 190-200 lb). Big trouble.... it does not matter if they have no metabolic syndrome or if they can outrace an insurance company executive in a marathon! It is all about numbers! If you do not believe it try going through online insurance as an individual purchaser..
A factor to be considered is that men, for various psychological reasons, are less likely to seek medical care. However, I wonder if this isn't balanced or unevenly offset in the long term because men end up seeking care when the problem is much more severe and therefor, costly, to correct. Is anyone looking at these factors? I'm just curious and it might point to ways to reduce healthcare costs in the long runl
