CMS: 99 percent of hospitals to get full update for Outpatient Reporting Program
There's good news from the CMS for hospitals who participated in its Hospital Outpatient Quality Data Reporting Program: 99 percent of them submitted information correctly and will receive the full payment update in 2009.
Only 26 of the 3,339 participating hospitals will not get a full update; the CMS news release said that those 26 hospitals either didn't report their quality data successfully or didn't have an administrator for QualityNet. They will receive an update that has been reduced by 2 percent as a result.
The reporting program was meant to increase quality reporting related to heart attacks and surgical care. Starting in 2010, participating hospitals will be required to also report on imaging efficiency if they want to receive the full update.
