CDC: 10 percent of New Yorkers had swine flu last spring

Well, let's hope that this trend doesn't hold for the rest of the country. In a report scheduled to be released this week, the CDC is expected to announce that about 800,000 people--or one in 10 New York City residents--had swine flu last spring.

Since April, swine flu killed 47 people in New York, or less than 1 percent of those infected, and since July, there's been little swine flu activity, city health officials said.

Still, it's worrisome to hear that a crowded city like New York could generate such a high rate of infection during what is considered by experts to have been the slow flu season.

While New York has some particularly difficult disease control issues to address, this is part of a growing trickle of news suggesting that the coming H1N1 season may be worse than originally predicted. Given this news, do you think the CDC's prediction of 70,000 cases nationwide during the high season in the fall/winter still makes sense?

Stimulating immune function would be an effective method to contend with HINI. Propagandized as unavailable, it has been available since 1981, when I published the fist of nine reviews on the clincally relevant, immunostimulating and antimicrobial properties of lithium and antidepressants.

Whenever I lecture on healthcare, I always pose one question. What is the ONLY marketing tool available to an insurance company? The answer is fear. The follow up question now is: Does it matter if it is a public or private option? Not really.

Now I ask a question that I wish everyone would look at for a minute; if you were trying to force an insurance company down the throats of Americans and your only tool was fear, what would you do? I think you would begin using terms such as; 'devastation,' and 'pandemic' and 'congressional panel' to add weight to it. Then you could offer a 'public option' that is so full of pork and side benefits that are not patient centered that it takes 1,000 pages to contain it all.

The normal state of any animal's physiology is healthy, well, lean and fit. If you are not all of these then you need to look at your lifestyle choices.

In response to Anonymous above, you cannot put a sub-lethal dose of a lethal toxin into a healthy body and expect it to perform better. Are you really trying to sell me on the idea that the reason my patients are getting sick is because their blood lithium level is low? Please.
