Avandia, Actos get'black box' warning
Comments
I could not take metformin was then put on actos without blood work on my liver.
I read up on actos BEFORE taking it and saw I had to have blood work done for my liver FIRST and then every 2 months -- no one told me to have liver blood work.
Then I read DO NOT TAKE IF YOU HAVE FLUID RETENTION. I get swelling really bad on my ankles.
When a couple of days into metformin my right ankle swelled up 3 x its size and I could not stand on it during the night when I woke up.
Then I started getting terrible stomach pains night/day on metformin.
So they took me off of it and put me on actos which I have not started because I am going back to my dr this Thursday confronting him on this medication that is so dangerous to take.
3 disabled people count on me to take care of them.
Diabetes med dont cure diabetes and then you are to take ACTOS that'll give you MORE trouble ?
It also says being diabetes type 2 woman are more prone to bone fractures -- then taking this medication Actos makes it tripple within a year for bone fractures !
I already have osteoporosis, and rhy arthritus.
The dr also assumed my thyroid was okay why she put me on actos --
Well if you have rhy arthritus which is a auto immune disease dont you have trouble with thyroid?
Now I want my thyroid checked --
Boy am i upset so then what medication do you take for diabetes ?
Well I found out upon reading internet
SOME PEOPLE HAVING TROUBLE TOLERATING metofrmin in its standard form may do better with extended-release metformin
Why do we have to be our own drs ?
My dr is supposed to work FOR me not against me.
