Shinseki Will Break Ground for New Orleans VA Medical Center

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- From June 23-25, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki will visit VA facilities in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee. On June 23, he will visit the Nashville, Tenn., VA Medical Center and VA Regional Office, and the Birmingham, Ala., VA Medical Center. On June 24, he will visit the Biloxi, Miss., VA Medical Center. On June 25, he will participate in the groundbreaking ceremony of the replacement VA Medical Center in New Orleans.

Wednesday, June 23

Shinseki to Visit Tennessee Valley Healthcare System
Nashville Stop to Include Women Veterans Clinic, VA Regional Office

     

What:

    Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki will visit the VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System’s Nashville campus and tour its dialysis unit, emergency department and pharmacy. Later, he visits the Women Veterans Comprehensive Care Clinic and the Nashville VA Regional Office.

Stops to Include Women’s Center, Blind Rehab Center

    Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki will visit the Birmingham VA Medical Center and tour its women’s center, palliative care unit and blind rehabilitation center during an afternoon stop in the city.

The Birmingham VA Medical Center is a 313-bed acute tertiary care facility located in the historic Southside district of the city. Shinseki to Visit VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System
Biloxi Stops to Include VA Facilities, Keesler AFB

     

What:

    Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki will visit and tour the VA Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System’s primary care clinic and the community living center at the Biloxi VA Medical Center. He also will tour construction sites for new mental health and community living center buildings that have created more than 1,000 jobs in the area. The Secretary will then visit the Keesler Air Force Base medical center to discuss joint initiatives between VA and the Department of Defense.
