Today, at the 10th Annual Conference of Physician Hospitals of America in San Francisco, Mike Russell, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Texas Spine and Joint Hospital in Tyler, Texas, was named the president of the PHA board of directors for a two-year term. Brett Gosney, CEO of Animas Surgical Hospital, has stepped down and will stay on the board of directors as its immediate past-president. Paul Kerens, senior executive officer of Kansas City Orthopedic Institute, was named president-elect.
Keri Bolte, current member services manager of PHA, has accepted a position as the interim director of PHA, to start on Dec. 1, 2010. During her term, the board of directors will be continuing its strategic search for a new leader and has appointed an Executive Search Committee to continue the process.
The board of directors will ensure that Physician Hospitals of America continues to represent the high quality, efficient, patient-centered care provided by physician hospitals throughout the country. Over the next months, PHA will set additional goals, renew its strategic plans to grow, provide top-notch services to its member hospitals, and through legal and legislative work, continue to push forward as a strong and independent industry-driven association. We are confident that PHA will be a successful advocate for physician owned and governed hospitals for many years to come.
