St. Anthony Hospital hosts private tour for media and announces opening date
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- St. Anthony Central Hospital, a regional leader in providing innovative, quality health care for patients whose needs may vary from non-life threatening services to the most complex health care needs, hosted a private tour of their replacement hospital in Lakewood for local media on Thursday, Feb 10.
Interim CEO, Ray Mencini, M.D., announced construction of the new $375 million hospital was ahead of schedule and the facility will open on June 20, 2011, a month earlier than expected. Following the announcement, Dr. Mencini and hospital leaders led a tour of the new facility, including the emergency department, ICU, dedicated trauma surgery suite (T-10 room), decontamination room, helipad, ambulance bay and more. Additional attendees included various members of the hospital’s administrative staff, architects, design team and builders.
The hospital will be part of a leading medical campus with centers of excellence in cardiac services, orthopedics, neurosciences, trauma, emergency and oncology. Like the current hospital, St. Anthony Hospital will be a Level I trauma center, the highest designation for trauma care. The communications center and administrative offices of Flight For Life Colorado, currently located at St. Anthony Central Hospital, will relocate to the new hospital once it's open. In addition, the medical campus will include the recently opened OrthoColorado Hospital, an orthopedic specialty hospital, two walkway-connected medical office buildings, and a parking garage. A freestanding wellness center also is planned for the campus.
The new St. Anthony Hospital, located adjacent to the Denver Federal Center, is expected to generate in excess of $336 million in economic activity in the area. In addition, the new 50-acre St. Anthony Medical Campus will bring approximately 2,400 new jobs to Lakewood at the hospital and its surrounding areas.
