MediConnect Global Unveils New Modules to Simplify the CMS RADV Audit Process for Medicare Advantage Plans

  • Automated Cloud-based Coding Module Optimizes RADV Submissions
  • Accurate and Comprehensive Packets Created in Time to Meet CMS Deadlines for RADV Audits

SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MediConnect Global today announced a series of new modules that ease the burden for Medicare Advantage health plans undergoing Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) audits from the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). MediConnect’s new RADV suite of services offer timely retrieval of medical records for CMS audits – along with online coding forms and CMS-required packet compilations for submission – that enhance the company’s recently announced cloud-based risk adjustment services.

In order to verify their initial risk adjustment claims, Medicare Advantage plans regularly undergo RADV audits from CMS. Once a Medicare Advantage plan receives notice of the RADV audit, MediConnect retrieves the needed records from the necessary health care providers and hosts them in their secure online portal. Clients may then choose to either have MediConnect perform coding on these records or they can have their own team perform coding utilizing this module. The module captures the best HCC code to verify a patient’s condition, prepares the RADV submission packets and attaches any provider attestations required for validation. The MediConnect system automatically compiles the digital CMS packets along with a completed report ready for submission to CMS.

“RADV audits can be a daunting and time-consuming task for health plans,” said Amy Rees Anderson, CEO of MediConnect. “MediConnect’s RADV services dramatically reduce the work needed to meet the varied requirements of the audit, which alleviates much of the stress associated with the process. Our procedures and automated coding services allow us to quickly and efficiently compile and prepare the information needed to satisfy the audit, which eliminates hours of compilation and paperwork.”

As part of ongoing healthcare reform, the reimbursement amount Medicare Advantage plans are eligible to receive has been adjusted. Reimbursements are determined by substantiated diagnosis codes and risk codes within a medical record, making accurate and comprehensive coding even more essential to health plans. By using MediConnect’s RADV services, health plans are able to save both time and money, which increases their ability to stay on top of healthcare reform.

“Being able to locate specific ICD-9 codes and correlate them to the appropriate HCC code is becoming increasingly important to health plans that want to capture accurate data for reimbursement by verifying the diagnoses recorded by healthcare providers,” added Anderson. “Using MediConnect’s workflow systems and coding tools, we are able to extract that information rapidly, leaving us more time to gather any supporting documentation needed to validate the record.”

The RADV audit services are part of MediConnect’s proprietary RapidReview service, a secure, cloud-based workflow system for record documentation management. RapidReview creates specific retrieval and follow-up parameters that ensure the required report for audited medical records is prepared in a timely manner that meets CMS deadlines for RADV audits. Four of the top five health insurance plans in the United States are among MediConnect’s many clients.
