, a leading health improvement technology company, announced that it has partnered with Keenan, the largest privately held insurance brokerage and consulting firm in California, to help California hospitals and health clinics conduct employee health screening programs, generate actionable health data, and measure the effectiveness of their wellness efforts. In recent months the partners have conducted successful wellness programs at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, and Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, encouraging thousands of employees to embrace prevention and wellness.

BioIQ’s unique health-improvement technology platform has enabled these hospitals to maximize participation in their wellness programs by providing participants multiple health screening options for diabetes and heart disease. They can visit a local lab, attend an onsite-screening event, order an at-home or take-home test kit, or visit a personal physician. Regardless of which method they choose, BioIQ automates the process of making appointments, sending reminders, conducting onsite-screening events, mailing at-home test kits, generating private lab reports, and integrating health screening results into electronic health records.

“One of the reasons we work with BioIQ is because they have such good engagement strategies and features,” said Robin Rager, Ph.D., Director of Health Management at Keenan. “Health screening is often at the front end of a wellness program, so the greater the engagement early on, the more people you will pull in for other integrated health and wellness services.”

BioIQ seamlessly integrates health-screening data with wellness solutions from Keenan and other partners, creating an ecosystem of health-improvement tools and applications. BioIQ also creates aggregate reports that HR pros can use to design better wellness programs. This comprehensive population data preserves individual privacy, yet helps employers make adjustments to their health coverage and wellness incentives.

Eisenhower Medical center chose to use a combination of onsite screening and lab visits for its program, which has engaged about 1,400 employees to date. “We are pleased to have the BioIQ health screenings available as part of our employee wellness program,” said David Kowalczyk, Director of Human Resources at Eisenhower Medical Center. “Collecting this baseline information is a vital tool in providing a program focused on prevention, wellness and overall health.”

Huntington Hospital opted for onsite-screening events, with visits to personal physicians as a secondary option. The not-for-profit hospital has approximately 3,300 total employees, 2,078 of whom enrolled in the BioIQ program. More than 85 percent signed up in the first three days following the program launch. Of that group, 1,956 finished the program for a completion rate of 94 percent.

“We like to give employees choices so they can select the health screening and wellness options that work for them,” noted Debbie Ortega, Chief HR Officer for Huntington Memorial Hospital. “Having health screening as part of our wellness program has been tremendously valuable for our employees. Many people have discovered risk factors or learned about borderline health condition and gone on to change their lifestyles to improve their health.”

Methodist Hospital offered a combination of onsite, lab visits, and physician forms in its BioIQ health-screening program. About 1,400 employees were incentivized to participate. The hospital was pleased to have almost 80% of the eligible employees complete the health screenings. According to Bill Budzinski, VP of HR at Methodist, BioIQ helped the hospital to meet two of the goals of its wellness program: “To improve the overall well-being of our employees and to reduce benefit claim costs.”
