The sustainable growth rate (SGR) could be decided by the end of the week before Congress goes on break, Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) said yesterday. The 27 percent Medicare pay cut has had physicians--who are only two weeks away from the reductions--trembling about the reimbursements' effects on patient care. Republicans wanted to postpone the pay cuts for 24 months, while Democrats pushed for 10 months, Reuters reported.
