HIMSS report: Men in HIT make more than women; average salary is $111K

Men working in the healthcare technology field make about $26,000 more than women, with the average salary for such professionals at $111,000, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society's (HIMSS) 2015 Compensation Survey found.

HIMSS surveyed 1,900 professionals in the industry from a wide-range of settings, including consulting firms, healthcare systems, hardware companies and accountable care organizations, among others.

The average salary for a male employee is $126,262; for females, it's $100,762, according to the report.

HIMSS also found that about 50 percent of health IT professionals did not receive a bonus last year, but 77.4 percent received a salary increase. Report
