, a leading provider of data-driven Health IT solutions, today announced a three-year agreement to partner with , a private nonprofit organization which operates the statewide health information exchange (HIE) in Maine. HealthInfoNet selected Arcadia Analytics and Quality Data Warehouse (QDW) to build a platform for clinical data warehousing and to test the linkage of clinical data from the state HIE with claims data from the state’s All-Payer Claims Database. While this project will test whether this can be done effectively, the ultimate goal is to give Maine’s healthcare community access to integrated clinical and claims data to support new payment models, such as Accountable Care Organizations and Share Savings Contracts. As an initial step, this project will support current clinical data reporting, now directly from the HIE, for the Bangor Beacon Community.

“By creating a data warehouse for the HIE we will be able to better support our providers’ data needs as they advance broader care management and delivery systems reform efforts. Down the road, combining the clinical information stored in the statewide HIE with associated cost information, we hope to give providers cost, quality and patient outcomes data in one view,” said Devore Culver, Executive Director and CEO of HealthInfoNet. “We decided to partner with Arcadia Solutions because of its deep expertise in data warehousing and clinical and claims analytics and its ability to deliver results quickly.”

“HealthInfoNet is one of the most successful HIEs in the country and that’s due in large part to its success in connecting the majority of Maine’s hospitals and clinical practices, as well as its true understanding of provider workflow and adoption. I’m proud to be taking the next steps with HealthInfoNet to help it build reporting capabilities that are critical to its success,” said Michael Gleeson, VP of Quality Improvement and Analytics, Arcadia Solutions. “Arcadia has been helping our health plan and provider customers achieve high-quality care and lower Total Medical Expense, in part by integrating clinical and claims data to not only improve population management, but also care coordination and actionable clinical insights available to physicians at the point of care. It is incredibly exciting that Arcadia’s platform will be the foundation of this exciting initiative.”

HealthInfoNet contains records for more than 1.1 million of the state’s 1.3 million people and has more than 6,000 registered clinical users. In Maine, 30 of its 39 hospitals and 300 of the state’s physician practices are connected to the HIE. HealthInfoNet anticipates all of Maine’s hospitals and a majority of Maine’s physician practices will be participating by 2015.
