Dr. James Solava is a primary care physician, Associate Chief Medical Information Officer, and Medical Director of Population Health at WVU Medicine, with board certifications in Internal Medicine and Clinical Informatics. He earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at Lankenau Hospital in 2008. Prior to joining WVU Medicine, he spent more than a decade practicing at Allegheny Health Network, where he served as Medical Director for IT and chaired the health system's Population Health Committee. He holds a Master of Medical Management degree from Carnegie Mellon University.

Dr. Solava's work centers on improving the physician and patient experience through technology, workflow optimization, and value-based care transformation. His areas of focus include population health strategy, care gap closure, physician wellness, EHR workflow efficiency, and the practical integration of artificial intelligence into clinical operations to reduce administrative burden and improve care delivery. He is passionate about bridging the gap between frontline clinical realities and executive decision-making to build systems that better support patients, physicians, and care teams. Outside of work, he enjoys golf, following Pittsburgh sports, gardening, and spending time with his family.
