CDC posts videos for emergency staff dealing with suspected Ebola patients

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has posted a series of training videos developed by Johns Hopkins Medicine to assist emergency department personnel in triage, identification and management of suspected Ebola patients. "Preparedness is the key for an organization and individual staff members to deal effectively with threats, and that's especially important with threats from infectious diseases that could spread and cause harm if not well-managed and contained," says Peter Pronovost, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety, in the first video. The videos cover the three-step "identify, isolate and inform" strategy, which the CDC recommends for emergency staff when screening patients with travel histories, clinical symptoms or exposure that put them at risk for the deadly virus.
