Haven snaps up Zocdoc's Serkan Kutan

CTO Serkan Kutan said Haven represents "the most promising attempt to improve health care in the U.S.," and the challenging task will require the "best technology team in health care." (Haven)

Serkan Kutan

Current position: Chief technology officer at Haven, the healthcare venture led by Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway, and JPMorgan

Former position: Chief technology officer at Zocdoc

Hire date: January 2019

Why he's a leader to watch: Even before Haven had a name, the healthcare venture snapped up Serkan Kutan, an Amazon and Microsoft veteran, to lead its technology development.

Kutan was most recently chief technology officer at Zocdoc, where he built the technology that consumers use to book doctors’ appointments. In a blog post announcing his move to Haven, Kutan called the CTO position at the healthcare venture a "dream job." He said Haven represents "the most promising attempt to improve health care in the U.S.," and the challenging task will require the "best technology team in health care."

As the Amazon-led healthcare venture has been on a hiring spree, the organization also lost its No. 2 executive after only nine months on the job. Former Chief Operating Officer Jack Stoddard, who joined Haven from Comcast, departed the company for personal reasons, including the length of his commute from his home.
