Tenet Announces Park Plaza Hospital Appoints New Hospital CEO

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) today announced that Park Plaza Hospital has appointed John Tressa as its chief executive officer. Tressa has served as the hospital’s interim chief executive officer since January 2010, and had previously served as chief operating officer since 2006. As CEO, Tressa will oversee strategic, operational and clinical activities for the 444-bed acute care hospital located in Houston, Texas.

“During his tenure at Park Plaza, John has demonstrated exceptional leadership capabilities and a true vision for growing the hospital,” said Robert L. Smith, senior vice president of operations for Tenet’s Central States Region. “His extensive experience in hospital operations coupled with his knowledge of the hospital and its staff will continue to make him an outstanding leader of the executive team.”

Throughout his five years at Park Plaza, Tressa has overseen numerous expansion projects, including the development of the Bone & Joint Pavilion. He initiated and sustained an affiliation with Baylor College of Medicine, which resulted in clinical programs in geriatrics, surgical oncology and vascular surgery. Under his leadership, Park Plaza Hospital was recognized as a Blue Cross Blue Shield Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement and Spine Surgery, and a Bariatric Center of Excellence from the American Society for Bariatric Surgery.

Prior to serving as chief operating officer at Park Plaza, Tressa was vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Northeast Medical Center from 2003 to 2006.
