State expands medical marijuana qualifying conditions

Although not included on Minnesota' initial list of qualifying conditions for medical marijuana, physicians in the state will soon have the option to write certifications for patients who suffer from intractable pain. Opponents of the bill that legalized medical marijuana last July were concerned that including intractable pain as a qualifying condition could lead to wider use of the drug, particularly among children, and serve as a first step toward legalization of marijuana for recreational use in Minnesota, Reuters reported.
