Locum tenens industry poised to take off

Impending physician shortages and other changes in the healthcare landscape are driving increased use of temporary or locum tenens physicians, according to an announcement from the National Association of Locum Tenens Organizations. "According to Staffing Industry Analysts, the locum tenens industry is poised to grow 8 percent to 10 percent in 2016," said Joe Matarese, CEO of Medicus Healthcare Solutions. "I believe this 2016 industry growth outlook is an accurate projection and that healthcare hiring managers will be relying upon locum tenens support increasingly over the next five years," he added.
