“To become a leader in most health care organizations, it’s become imperative to have an advanced degree in health care administration or health care management,” said Suzanne Holmes, DPA, dean of Capella’s School of Public Service Leadership. “Our new MHA Health Care Leadership specialization is designed to build capabilities that our students can put to use immediately. With a curriculum that combines evidence-based leadership theory and NCHL-aligned competencies, our students start practicing the skills to manage change, lead high-performing teams, and improve patient care from their first day in the program. We’ve also built one-on-one coaching into the specialization to help students develop their own leadership style and increase their ability to lead health care organizations through an era of reform, scrutiny, and heightened expectations.”
Capella’s efficient, competency-based curriculum allows students to complete their MHA in as little as 18 months – sooner if a student has transfer credits. In addition, Capella MHA students can simultaneously earn a Health Care Administration certificate within the first year of their MHA program, for no additional time or cost, providing them the skills and credibility to make a more immediate impact on the job.
Employees of Magnet® hospitals who enroll in a Capella MHA, DHA, BSN, MSN, or DNP online degree program and meet all eligibility requirements will be eligible for a $3,000 grant if they begin their program between Jan. 6 and April 7, 2014.
