Humana finalizes rebrand of home health division from Kindred at Home to CenterWell

Humana has finished its rebranding of the home health division CenterWell from Kindred at Home, which the insurer acquired in August of last year.

The insurance giant announced Wednesday that CenterWell is the official name for more than 350 home health locations in 38 states.

“The rollout of the CenterWell Home Health brand reinforces our efforts to expand our home health capabilities to meet the needs of our patients,” said Andy Agwunobi, president of Humana’s Home Solutions division, in a press release.

This is the third and final phase of Humana’s rebranding effort as it completed other phases in March and June of this year. This latest phase rebrands Kindred at Home centers in 17 states.

CenterWell’s home health transition is the latest effort by Humana to unite its healthcare service offerings under one umbrella, including also senior primary care and pharmacy.

“By bringing these services under CenterWell, Humana is working to close gaps in care to help more people live healthier and happier, while improving health outcomes and lowering costs,” the insurer said in a release. “CenterWell services are open to members of a variety of health plans, not just those offered by Humana.”

Humana’s transition is the latest in the insurance industry to expand into home health offerings, a sector that has seen rapid growth since the pandemic.

The insurer also acquired the company onehome in 2021, which coordinates services for home health such as physical therapy or infusion. Humana also made a $100 million investment into the home health startup Heal, which offers telemedicine and remote monitoring services.
