Highlights:
- Fourth quarter 2010 net income was $1.40 per share, including net investment gains of $0.07 per share
- Full-year 2010 net income was $6.94 per share, including net investment gains of $0.23 per share, partially offset by an impairment charge of $0.03 per share
- Medical enrollment exceeded 33.3 million members as of Dec. 31, 2010, down 347,000 members, or 1.0 percent, from approximately 33.7 million at the close of 2009
- Selling, general and administrative expenses declined by $271 million during the year, and the SG&A expense ratio increased 40 basis points to 16.4 percent for Q4 2010
- Full year 2011 net income is expected to be at least $6.30 per share; the company plans to provide additional details at its Investor Day scheduled for Feb. 23, 2011
