WellPoint Announces Appearance at Medicaid Innovation and Revenue Management Summit

INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- WellPoint (NYSE: WLP) today announced that Kevin R. Hayden, president of State Sponsored Business will appear at the Medicaid Innovation and Revenue Management Summit on Wednesday, August 11, in Washington, D.C. The conference is scheduled to convene 20 states, health plans and other key leaders to discuss timely and relevant issues facing Medicaid today.

On the first day of this two-day conference, Mr. Hayden will deliver a keynote address entitled: "Reform, the Economy and Your Bottom Line." In his presentation, Mr. Hayden will discuss how states and plans can collaborate to provide greater access to health care for Medicaid beneficiaries at a time when they are facing deficits. Mr. Hayden's presentation will explore how understanding Medicaid segments, providing medical care in the appropriate settings and the development of true partnerships between plans and health care providers can help to better manage and coordinate care for Medicaid enrollees while helping the state's to manage their costs.

Mr. Hayden's career spans more than 23 years in the private and public sectors. Prior to joining WellPoint, Mr. Hayden served as Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Services for the State of Wisconsin and was responsible for leading all public health and care delivery services. Prior to that he served as the Wisconsin State Medicaid Director. Most notably, Mr. Hayden was a key architect in creating Badgercare Plus, an innovative program expanding coverage to all children in Wisconsin. At WellPoint Mr. Hayden is responsible for leading WellPoint's State Sponsored Business Division which currently serves nearly 1.8 million Medicaid and CHIP members in 10 states.

Joining Mr. Hayden as a presenter on the second day of the conference will be Chad Westover, vice president of WellPoint's State Sponsored Business, who will address the group in a keynote session entitled: "The New Medicaid Consumer." Mr. Westover's presentation will look at how states and plans can work together to develop innovative programs that better understand and meet the needs of newly-eligible individuals anticipated to enter the Medicaid market in coming years.
